Working with the Garrion Tower design team and Elocin Hotels, Block Architects are excited to confirm that the planning application for the refurbishment and development of this wedding venue is well and truly off and running.
During September 2023, an application was lodged with North Lanarkshire Council on behalf of Elocin Hotels and Nicole Rudder (of G4 Claims, Wishaw) for the redevelopment of a ruinous B-listed mansion near Overtown, Wishaw.
Restoring a building on the Buildings at Risk Register
This project is the brainchild of Nicole and represents her dream to restore the Tower which is currently on the Buildings at Risk Register. Block Architects and the project design team, have been collaborating during the 12-month design period leading up to the submission of the planning application for this exciting new wedding venue.
In a press statement, Bruce Scotland, senior architect’s assistant at Block Architects, wrote:
“This extensive restoration, refurbishment and expansion project aims to utilise the existing site and surrounding grounds of Garrion Tower to create a sheltered, luxurious wedding venue that showcases the natural environment through affording unrestricted views across the landscape.
By way of comprehensive design evolution, a clear vision for the site has been established. This includes for a distinct development of appropriate siting, scale, density, form, height and massing in respect to the existing Garrion Tower – creating a scheme that is east to move around, attractive to pedestrians, cyclists and people with disabilities and is also integrated within existing green networks.”
