Case Study: Garrion Tower Refurbishment

The Garrion Tower Refurbishment and Extension Project is a brave transformation of a Grade B listed building into Lanarkshire’s Premier Luxury Wedding and Conference Venue.

The Clients

Block Architects were first approached by the Project Manager to assist in the preparation of sketch concept proposals that would outline and realise the Client’s vision for this prestigious project.

The Brief

When Nicole and Laura approached Block Architects, their enquiry was quite unexpected given that the Garrion Tower Social Media sites would have suggested that the project was well underway. In fact, only preparatory and making safe works had started on site. They needed an Architectural Practice to develop and provide imagery that captured their outstanding vision for this extraordinary building and site in deepest, darkest, Lanarkshire. Set on the banks of the River Clyde, not far from Garrion Bridge, the revitalisation of this project is set to become a major talking point for years to come.

Our Solutions

Site analysis lead us to quickly understand that the setting of the house and grounds were soon to become compromised by the pending approval of a housing development that would wrap itself around the front of the Tower. The partial demise of the green setting of the Tower would lead us to incorporate new green roofs on the project extension. These roofs would be further developed to be walkable, usable spaces on the top of the extensions. Guests could delight in rooftop bars and spill-out spaces, overseeing the remainder of the grounds whilst screening out the new surrounding housing developments.
