The Brief
Assist in a phased growth approach in transforming a former farm steading and outbuildings into a small family distillery. The phasing of the growth was conceptualised by the family all in line with their aspirations to grow an international reputation whilst having a strong local brand and community presence.
Our Solutions
Following a strategic growth plan set out by the family, Block Architects undertook and extensive 3-year plan of negotiating various expansion phases through the planning and building control process. The overall project comprised the alteration and extension of existing farm outbuildings to form grain storage sheds, bond units and manufacturing and processing facilities culminating in the formation of ‘The Wee Distillery Shop and The End of Tour Bar which is a must for tour and corporate events. Guests can spend an overnight in the new plush visitor lodges where modern accommodation can truly round of your visit to this fantastic Lanarkshire distillery.
